Who is

David Berhanu?

My name is David Berhanu, and my journey began in Ethiopia, a vibrant and historic country nestled in the Horn of Africa near the Red Sea. I was born and raised there, surrounded by the beauty of its landscapes and the warmth of its culture. However, my early years were shaped by the challenges of conflict. At the age of 12, I left my homeland with my older brother, Samuel Berhanu, to escape the dangers of war and the looming threat of being drafted into the conflict. Leaving behind my family and everything I knew was one of the hardest decisions of my life, but it was a step toward safety and opportunity.

My path eventually brought me to the United States, where I found both refuge and a new beginning. Determined to pursue an education and secure a brighter future, I joined the U.S. Army. Serving in the military not only allowed me to support myself through college but also gave me the opportunity to benefit from the GI Bill program. Life, however, had unexpected turns. While I had hoped to leave the shadows of war behind, the tragic events of 9/11 sent me to the Middle East as part of my military service.

Throughout my nine years in the Army, I upheld my belief that war is an ancient and ineffective means of resolving conflicts. My experiences deepened my commitment to seeking peaceful solutions and inspired me to advocate for justice and fairness. These values have become a cornerstone of who I am today.

After completing my service, I pursued a career in law. I am now an attorney licensed to practice in the state of Georgia, where I dedicate my work to helping others navigate complex legal matters. Above all, I am a proud father of two beautiful sons who inspire me every day to strive for a better world.

This journey has been marked by resilience, growth, and a steadfast belief in the power of education, service, and justice. Through TheQuestion.one, I hope to continue these efforts, fostering discussions and actions that challenge the status quo and pave the way for meaningful change.
